On March 28th, my mom (otherwise known as "Nana" to Katelyn), Katelyn, and I (Mommy Marci) took a plane ride to NY so that Katelyn could meet half of her family. Ever since September 11th happened, our family has been waiting on pins and needles for a safe time to travel...this was the time, FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Katelyn was such a good girl on the plane, no crying or even fussing...Katelyn had her own seat in between her Nana and I and a huge bag of toys to play with. Everyone marveled over how good she was:)
We arrived at JFK safe and sound at around 9:30pm where we were greeted by a LIMO! Yup, Katelyn took her first limo ride just shy of 8 months!:) NOT BAD!!!!!!! (There wasn't enough room in a regular-sized car for all of her stuff...)
When we arrived at Great Grandma Roz and Great Grandpa Syd's house, Katelyn was full of smiles! She looked at her great grandparents as though she knew who they were. It was a very touching moment that I'll never forget.
Katelyn slept in her pack 'n play that first night in a bedroom with me. After 1 night of listening to her scurry around that playpen, I decided Katelyn should sleep elsewhere!!! ARGHHHH, that kiddo of mine is like a kitten...scratches everything IN HER SLEEP and COOS IN HER SLEEP!!!!! So yes, after 1 sleepless night, I gave Katelyn a different room to sleep in. The following night we all slept wonderfully!:)
During the 2 weeks we were there, Katelyn met her great aunts and even a great great aunt:), and of course some great uncles, and MANY cousins. All of her cousins enjoyed cuddling with her. She happily went to anyone with their arms open.
Katelyn was also lucky enough to enjoy her first bridal shower for cousin Ivie. She really got a kick out of watching Ivie open her presents...Katelyn's favorite thing to play with these days is paper and ribbons so she was just so happy to see so much of that stuff lying around!
She especially enjoyed playing with her great grandpa and great grandma. Every night while I made her bottles and prepared her stuff for bedtime, she would lay down in their living room playing with my grandpa and some birthday balloons he had left over:) She sat with my grandma and watched tv...did just about everything happily:)
Our trip was a great success and we can't wait to go see everyone again!!!!
